Peters Leads Coppin State Eagles to second-place finish at Towson Invitations

BALTIMORE - Junior Nickie Peters' (St. Vincent, West Indies/St. Vincent H.S.)runner-up finish helped the Coppin State men's cross country squad placesecond in the team standings at the Towson Invitational, held at OregonRidge Park.

Peters covered the eight-kilometer course in 26:57.53, getting edged at thefinish line by Anne Arundel Community College's Victor Thillet (26:56).Sophomore Rashaad Jorden (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro H.S.) was third witha time of 27:38.

Senior Mike Curtis (Baltimore/Mervo H.S.) just missed a top 10 finish,placing 11th in 30:07.

The Eagles had 49 points to finish behind host Towson (35).

For the women's team, junior Kenesha Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y./South ShoreH.S.) led the way by placing sixth in 25:41 over the six-kilometer layout.Loyola won the women's team title with 38 points, while the Lady Eagles werefifth (103).
