Sheals Resigns as Men's Basketball Coach at Delaware State

Dover, DE --- Maurice (Tony) Sheals resigned today as men's basketball coach at Delaware State University, one year after being named to the position. Sheals had been suspended with pay following an alleged incident with a player on February 21.

The Hornets ended the 1999-2000 season with an overall record of 6-22. Former assistant Stephen Wilson served as interim coach for the final two regular season games and the Hornets' first round appearance in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.

Delaware State University President Dr. William B. DeLauder said the University would immediately begin a national search for a new coach.
