| Coppin State's Keisha BrooksLeads All-MEAC TeamFebruary 22, 2000GREENSBORO, N.C. - Coppin State College forward Kiesha Brooks has beenselected as the 1999-2000Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Player-of-the-Year as voted onby the league's eleven headcoaches and sports information director's. Brooks, a 5'10, junior fromOlney, Maryland leads the conferencein scoring (21 ppg.), while ranking third in both rebounding (10.6 rpg)and steals (2.92 spg.). She also ranksfifth in assists at three per contest. Joining Brooks on the All-MEAC First Team are guards Liesha Mitchell(Coppin State, Sr.), ExzaviaCunningham (Bethune-Cookman, Fr.) and frontcourt standouts MoniqueLiddell (Morgan State, Sr.) and lastseasons Player of the Year Malveata Johnson (N.C. A&T State, Jr.). Coach-of-the-Year honors went to Morgan State's interim head coachGerard Garlic. In his first-everhead coaching post, Garlic has led the Lady Bears to a current overallmark of 13-10 and a 10-5 record inconference play; that includes two impressive wins over league leadingHoward University and Norfolk Stateearlier this season. The MEAC All-Rookie First Team consists of Jewonda Bright (DelawareState, Fr.), Andrea Gardner(Howard, Soph.), Jessica Faust (Hampton, Fr.), LaShondra Dixon (Hampton,Fr.) and Cunningham.Cunningham was also selected as the MEAC Rookie-of-the-Year.
