A&T Assistant Football Coach Honored
Hicks Named American Football Coach Magazine Coordinator of the Year

American Football Coach magazine has announced that North Carolina A&T State University defensive coordinator Wayne Hicks has been named Division I-AA Defensive Coordinator of the Year. The Aggies defense was third in Division 1-AA in total defense (259.4 yards per game) and third in scoring defense (13.7 points per game).

"This award could not have happened to a better person," said A&T head Coach Bill Hayes. "He is a tremendous worker. He is creative and innovative in his defensive schemes. He does a great job coaching the student-athlete as a whole as on the field."

Hayes also named Hicks as the Aggies Associate Head Coach.

Hicks will enter his fifth season with the Aggies. He came to A&T as linebackers coach for one year before becoming defensive coordinator. Prior to coming to A&T. he spent seven years as an assistant coach at Elon College. He is a graduate of Jacksonville State University (AL).
