
Charlotte, NC -Street & Smith's Productions has announced its 1999 football television schedule featuring games from the Southwestern Athletic Conference and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.This is the first year of a four-year agreement between the SWAC and Street & Smith'sthat will eventually televise sixty (60) SWAC Football and Basketball games.
Street and Smith's has televised CIAA football and basketball games for the past six years.
The seven (7) game television schedule includes four (4) regular season SWAC games and two interconference games featuring teams from the CIAA, MEAC and SWAC.
The schedule kicks off September 4th when Virginia State and Norfolk State meet in the Labor Day Classic at Dick Price Stadium in Norfolk.
On September 11th, the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff travels to Baton Rouge to face Southern University.
The schedule concludes with the inaugural SWAC Championship Game, December 11th, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Seven (7) SWAC teams will be featured in the 1999 regular season schedule including theannual showdown between Jackson State University and Southern University October16th at Jackson, MS. This game, along with three others, will be nationally syndicated by Street & Smith's Productions.
Black Entertainment Television (BET) will carry three games of the package includingthe SWAC Championship. The other two (2) BET games will be the 58th Magic CityClassic on October 30th, pitting arch-rivals Alabama State University and AlabamaA&M University in Birmingham. And on November 20th, Jackson State will battleAlcorn State University in the 5th Capitol City Classic in Jackson.
Street & Smith's Productions also produces "Black College Sports Today" which will air on Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. beginning September 18 on BET.
