| Savannah State Tigers Eye National MarkMarch 16, 2000Savannah,GA.... The Savannah State University Tiger Baseball Team is two victories away from setting theNational Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) record for most consecutive victories in a season. SSUeclipsed the NCAA Division II record (30) on March 15, 2000 with a doubleheader win (16-1, 20-4) overTuskegee University. The victories improved SSU's record to 31-0 for the season. To eclipse the overallNCAA mark (34), the Tigers will need two victories at Tiger Field in Savannah, Sunday, over The University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, a Division I opponent. The Sunday battle for national prominence was set up when the Tigers traveled to Birmingham, Alabamaand defeated Miles College in a twi-night double header, 20-3 and 15-0 on March 16 giving Savannah Statean opportunity to set a national record or fall from the undefeated ranks on their home field. The first pitch is set for 1:00 p,m. Sunday, March 19, 2000 in the scheduled double header, On the mound for theTigers in the opener will be Ricardo Castillo, freshman right-hander from Miami, Florida (13-0, 1.73 ERA)and in game two, Guy Thigpen, junior right-bander from Theodore, Alabama (12-0, 1.24 ERA).
