Trotter comes to UMES from New Mexico State University where he has served as first assistant men's basketball coach for the past two years. Prior to that, Trotter was an assistant coach at Northeastern Illinois University.

"I feel that the University of Mayland Eastern Shore is a gold mine as far as what it has to offer the student-athletes in terms of academics," said Trotter, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. "The location gives the program an excellent recruiting base."

Trotter replaces Lonnie Williams whose contract was not renewed after four years at UMES.

Dixon comes to the Lady Hawks program from Arkansas State University where she was an assistant coach last year. She was also an assistant coach at Texas Southern University during the 1998-99 season. For 13 years before going to Texas Southern, Dixon was the head basketball coach at Germantown Middle School in Germantown, TN where her teams won eight district championships.

The 1983 graduate of Mississippi Valley State was invited to work with the 3-time WNBA champion Houston Comets Training Camp last May.

"This position affords me the opportunity to enhance my career and gives me the challenge of turning the program around, and I like challenges." Dixon said. "This University has a strong recruiting location and excellent academic programs which is a combination that attracts student-athletes.

Dixon succeeds Trina Patterson who resigned after one year on the job.
