Southern again top SWAC program
The Southern University Department of Athletics has captured its fourth consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference Commissioner's Cup (named the Dr. James Frank Award) for overall excellence among its sponsored sports.
Southern's 87.5 points also captured the Barbara Jacket/Sadie Magee Award for tops among the women's sports, and with 68.5 points tied with Jackson State for the C.D. Henry Award, signifying the top men's program.
Southern won SWAC titles in women's tennis, outdoor track & field and men's baseball. The Jaguars garnered second place in football, women's basketball, bowling, women's indoor track & field, and softball.
