BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Alabama A&M junior Whiquitta Tobar and Mississippi Valley State freshman De'Kisha Fondon earned Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the period ending Dec. 20. Tobar (G, 5-7, Jr., Blytheville, Ark.) scored a career-high 31 points on 8-of-14 (57%) shooting from the field in the Bulldogs' 75-68 over Minnesota. The guard went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line versus Kentucky and pulled down a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in a 67-62 loss to Alabama on Dec. 20. For the week, Tobar averaged 20.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Fondon (G/F, 5-11, Fr., Water Valley, Miss.) averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 assists in two games for the Devilettes. She led all scorers with 21 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field in Mississippi Valley State's 68-57 loss to Ole Miss and added a team-high three steals in a loss to Mississippi State.
