HBCU Olympic Update - 8/8/12: Passing the Baton

With Wednesday as a day off for HBCU performers except for Semoy Hackett (Lincoln-MO), the only remaining track and field events for HBCU products in the 2012 Olympics are the relays with the notable exception of Jackson State sophomore Anso Jobodwana (South Africa).London 2012

Hackett finished eighth in the women's 200m final on Wednesday.

In the men's 4x400m relay, Chris Brown (Norfolk State - Bahamas) and Dane Hyatt (St. Augustine's - Jamaica) are scheduled to run in the preliminary round, Thursday morning at 6:35am ET.  Should their teams advance, the finals are set for Friday afternoon at 4:20pm ET.

Chandra Sturrup (Norfolk State) and Amara Jones (Savannah State) make up half of the team from the Bahamas in the 4x100m relay set to begin at 3:20pm Thursday afternoon.  The event final will be Friday afternoon at 3:40pm ET.

Jobodwana, a 20-year-old Biology major, has qualified for the men's 200m final and will be running out of Lane 9 Thursday afternoon at 3:55pm ET.
