INDIANAPOLIS --The field of 64 teams competing for the 2011 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship was announced today by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Making their fifteenth appearance in the tournament, the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman will be making their fourth trip to the Tallahassee Regional, with games starting on Friday, June 3, as the Wildcats face off against first-seeded Florida State. Also appearing in the Tallahassee Regional are Central Florida and Alabama. Alcorn State's Braves will make its first appearance in an NCAA Baseball Tournament on Friday at Rice. The Owls are the #8 overall seed and will be hosting the regional at Reckling Park, along with Baylor and California. Game times have not yet been set. ASU joins two other teams as first-time participants in the NCAA Tournament -- Belmont and Arkansas-Little Rock. The Braves won their first SWAC title in school history last week and earned the automatic berth into the national championship tournament, which culminates with the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. from June 18-29. |
