Coppin State names baseball assistant

 July 10, 1997

Coppin State College baseball coach Paul Blair has named former Eagle standout Jamal Davis as assistant coach.

Davis, who was team captain as a senior, played shortstop and third base for CSC from 1992 to 1995, compiling a .271 batting average during his four-year career. He was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Tournament team in 1995 after helping Coppin to its first-ever conference title and a berth in the NCAA play-in series.

The 24-year-old Baltimore native, who played football, basketball and baseball at Archbishop Curley High School, currently works for Pepsi Cola.

Davis wil assist in all areas of baseball operations and will serve as the Eagles' primary infield coach.
