Lenora Armstrong Steps Down as Head Women's Track & Field Coach

Hampton, VA....Hampton University announced today that Lenora Armstrong has resigned her position as head women's track & field coach, to pursue her doctorate degree. Armstrong will also teach in the Hampton University Department of Health and Physical Education.

During the past nine years as women's track coach, she guided the Lady Pirates to the 1989 CIAA Indoor Championship, 1989 CIAA Outdoor Championship, 1991 CIAA Cross Country Championship and the 1992 CIAA Outdoor Championship. In national competition, the Lady Pirates finished 3rd in the NCAA Division II National Championship in 1989, 90 and 91. She was named CIAA Coach of the Year in three times 1989, 91 and 92.

HU Athletic Director Dennis Thomas said, "The university sincerely appreciates the contribution that Coach Armstrong has made to the Track & Field program.
