Morgan State University Director of Athletics Garnett Purnell has named Faith Shearer as the department's new Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations. Shearer will oversee the Athletic Business Office, marketing and promotions for the department.Shearer comes to Morgan from North Carolina Central University where she was the Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women's Administrator for two years. While at NCCU, she was charged with the institutional NCAA compliance and rules education program as well as coordinating game operations for home football and basketball events. In addition, she was a member of the department's Marketing Committee and the Gender Equity Task Force. She was also instrumental in developing and overseeing NCCU's summer sports camps.
Before joining the NCCU Eagle staff, Shearer served as an Administrative Assistant in the Big Eight Service Bureau and a freelance writer for the NCAA. She also served as a public information intern at the NCAA from 1994 to 1995.
A 1994 graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, Shearer was captain of the school's volleyball team.
