
Roberts, the first male track athlete at Coppin to qualify for the nationals, ran a 1:50.78, nearly a second behind fifth-place finisher Roman Oravec (1:49.84) of Southern Methodist.
Georgia Tech’s David Krummenacker won the race in 1:47.52.
Roberts, in his first year of competition at Coppin after transferring from St. Francis (Pa.), is the third Coppin track athlete to earn All-America honors in the last five years.
Diana Pitts was an All-American in the 800 outdoors in 1993 and 1994, while Twana Allen did likewise indoors in 1996.
