Florida A&M's Jerome James has announced that he is making himself available for this year's NBA Draft.
The 7-1 center could have returned for another season at FAMU but he announced his decision to turn pro on Wednesday.
"After serious consideration, and with the support and counsel of my family, I've decided that I will not return to Floria A&M next year," James said in a story published in The Tallahassee Democrat. "I believe I am ready to play basketball at the next level and will begin pursuing basketball professionally at the end of this school semester."
James has played basketball for just three years averaging nearly 20 points and 11 rebounds per game. He blocked 121 shots this season. Despite his size he did not play the sport before attending FAMU because the Tampa Christian Pentacostal Academy did not sponsor basketball.
James is projected as a possible late first round or early second round pick in July's NBA Draft. He will attend the NBA pre-draft camp in Chicago in June.
