The Southwestern Athletic Conference has hired Patrick Cordell Carter as its new compliance coordinator.
Carter, a 33-year-old native of Grambling, LA and a 1985 graduate of Grambling State University, replaces Dell Robinson, who left the SWAC last fall for a similar position with the Western Athletic Conference.
Carter comes to the SWAC from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, where he served as compliance coordinator for the Hampton, VA based league from August,1991 until March 14. He previously worked as compliance coordinator at Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA (1989-91), following a stint as a legislative services intern with the NCAA.
"As a graduate of a SWAC member institution, I'm happy to be here," noted Carter. "I look forward to the challenges this job brings."
SWAC commissioner James Frank stated, "We're fortunate to have been able to hire an individual with Patrick's credentials. His knowledge and experience should serve to strengthen our compliance program."
