Street & Smith's Sports Group has joined forces with the Historically Black Collegiate Coalition (HBCC) to publish a national magazine exclusively devoted to black college football. Street & Smith's Black College Football will be distributed nationally at newsstands in early September. The annual publication will preview the 43 black college football teams including the four conference races (MEAC, SWAC, CIAA and SIAC) and five independent teams.
Features in the publication will include: The Black College All-Pro Team, Top Black College Pros, Top Pro Prospects, Greats From the Past, Black College All-Americans, the 1998 Bowl Picture, teams schedules, records and stats, and a special feature on Eddie Robinson, the legendary former coach of Grambling.
We are very excited about our affiliation with the HBCC and with coach Eddie Robinson", said Sal Schiliro, magazine publisher. "For the first time in the 58-year history of Street & Smith's Black college football will have its own magazine."
:Street and Smith is well known throughout the country for excellence in showcasing college football," added Craig Cason, Executive Director of HBCC and the McDonald's Heritage Bowl. "This opportunity provides an excellent vehicle with which to highlight the quality of black college football and we are excited about it."
Street and Smith's Black College Football becomes the second national publication devoted to the sport. SportsView magazine has been publishing a black college football preview for the past eight years.
