
Florida A&M Rattlerette forward Aquenda Clark has signed a player contract with the WNBA. She joins five other college seniors recently signed by the league.
Clark, a two-time All-MEAC performer, led her team in scoring and rebounding this past season, averaging 17.4 points and 8.7 rebounds. The 5'10" forward played for Tallahassee Community College before coming to FAMU.
Clark joins Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year Nani Cockett from Hawaii, Big Sky Conference Player of the Year Skyla Sisco of Montana, Michigan's Pollyana Johns, Florida International's Gergana Branzova and Providence College's Kerri Chatten as new signees with the women's professional league.
The 1998 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp, which will include college seniors, veterans with prior professional experience and international players, will be held at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago from April 16-18. The 1998 WNBA Draft will be held on Wednesday, April 29. Each of the ten teams in the league will have 11 active roster spots for the 1998 season.
The WNBA has expanded its regular season for 1998, with each of the league's ten teams playing 30 games (15 home/15 away). The season will tip off on June 11. ESPN, Lifetime and NBC will each televise 10 regular season games.
