KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Langston University men's basketball team accomplished several milestones during the 2016-17 campaign and collected one more as the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches Postseason Top 25 Poll was announced by the national office.
In the final Top 25 Poll, the Lions finished as the No. 8 team in the NAIA after collecting 189 points; it was the largest improvement of anyone in the Top 25 as Langston moved up 13 spots from the final regular-season poll on March. 8.
The Lions finished the 2016-17 season at 24-10 overall which included national tournament victories over Biola (Calif.) and Dillard (La.) before losing a tightly-contested to No. 1 seed William Penn (Iowa); it was the second-straight tournament appearance under head coach Stan Holt and first time the Lions have won on the national stage. In the four previous appearances for Langston they were 0-4 in national tournament play.
