| From The News Room February 7, 2002 - Ali Abdullah has decided to not return to the Howard University men's basketball team this season. A 5-8 senior point guard from Jersey City, NJ, Abdullah had taken a leave of absence from the team following the Hampton University game to ponder his future. He announced his decision to Howard Coach Frankie Allen on Wednesday.
On the season, Abdullah played in 16 games and started eight, averaging 6.7 points. He scored his 1,000th point against Mercer University on November 16 and finishes his career with 1,236 points, placing him fifth among all-time leading scorers in school history. His 438 assists ranks second in school history and his 164 steals ranks first. February 2, 2002 - It's official. Andrew Faison is the new head football coach at Virginia State University. Faison, a VSU alum, was introduced at a press conference, Friday February 1.
