| From The News Room June 25, 2002 - Livingstone College Inducts 10 Into Hall of Fame
- Southern University's Rickie Weeks has been named to the 2002 USA Baseball National Team. The team is comprised of 22 freshman and sophomore players from colleges around the country. Weeks, a second-baseman, earned All-American honors this spring and finished the season with a .495 batting average.
June 23, 2002 - According to Saturday's (6-22-02) edition of the Orangeburg Times and Democrat, first-year head football coach Oliver "Buddy" Pough has been named interim Athletics Director at South Carolina State. Pough, who has been on the job since Dec. 11, 2001, succeeds Dr. Timothy J. Autry, who was relieved of his duties as AD on Thursday and reassigned.
June 1, 2002 - NCAA Div I Track & Field Championships:
Prairie View A&M's Lewis Edmonson has picked up All-American honors by finishing eighth in the finals of the men's 110M hurdles Saturday. Hampton University's Chloe Davis has earned All-American status by virtue of her eighth place finish in the finals of the women's 400M hurdles Friday with a time of 58.04. Southern University's Brian Johnson has earned All-America status by finishing third in the long jump competition Thursday. Johnson's best leap was 7.97m (26'1.5"). | | |
