Albany State announces final 2006 football schedule

Albany State University (ASU) has released the final 2006 Golden Rams football schedule. Albany State’s 10-game slate includes four home games at the Albany Municipal Coliseum, two games against non-conference opponents and a football classic game.

The three-time SIAC defending champions will kick off the season on the road against 2005 CIAA champion, the North Carolina Central University Eagles, on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. in Durham, NC. The Golden Rams will make their home debut against the Valdosta State University Blazers, on Sept. 2. The game will kickoff at 7 p.m.

The remaining eight games on the Golden Rams’ schedule are conference games. The Golden Rams will travel to Frankfort, KY on Sept. 9 to take on the Kentucky State University Thorobreds in a 6 p.m. game. The Golden Rams will return home to play the Stillman College Tigers in a conference game on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. The Golden Rams will have a weekend off (Sept. 23) before traveling to Columbia, SC on Sept. 30 to take on the Benedict College Tigers in a conference game at 6 p.m.

The Golden Rams will return home for two-back-to-back games on Oct. 7 against the Miles College Bears at 7 p.m. and on Oct. 14 for the 2006 Homecoming game against the Clark Atlanta University Panthers at 2 p.m. The Rams will hit the road for the next two weekends to face the Tuskegee University Tigers in Tuskegee, Ala. on Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. and the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers on Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga.,

The Golden Rams will wrap up its regular season against conference rival, the Fort Valley State University Wildcats, on Nov. 4 at 1:30 p.m. in Columbus, Ga., in the 17th Annual Fountain City Classic, which is touted as one of the biggest and best black college football classics.
