Livingstone College releases 2006 football
schedule

SALISBURY, NC - The Livingstone College Athletic Department
has released its official 2006 football schedule. The Blue
Bears, under Head Coach Robert Massey, will host
five home games in Alumni Memorial Stadium and one game in
Charlotte, NC. at the Memorial Stadium.
The 2006 season will begin on August 26th when LC travels
to Hickory, NC to take on the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne College
in Mortez Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. game. The previous meeting
was in 1998 when Livingstone defeated the Bears 33-12 during
its CIAA Championship season.
On September 2nd, the Blue Bears will host its home-opener
in Alumni Memorial Stadium against the Vikings of Elizabeth
City State University with a 6:00 pm kickoff. Livingstone will
sponsor "Community Appreciation Night".
The sixth
annual Mayor's Cup will return to campus when local cross-town
rival Catawba College line-up against Livingstone at 6:00 pm
on September 9th.
Livingstone will travel the weekend of September 16th to Richmond,
VA for a match-up against the Panthers of Virginia Union University.
The gridiron battle in Hovey Field Stadium will begin at 1:30
in the afternoon.
LC will host the Bulldogs of Bowie State in Charlotte, NC
at Memorial Stadium on September 23rd. The sponsored game will
be deemed "The Classic". Kickoff will be at 4:00
pm.
Hosting responsibilities will continue as the Blue Bears
return to Salisbury in order to conduct "Open House" on
September 30th. The event will conclude with a 6:00 pm game
versus Shaw University.
The oldest rivalry in HBCU football
will continue on October 7th when Johnson C. Smith University
(formerly known as Biddle) visits for "UNCF Night".
The game will begin at 6:00 pm.
There will be an open date on Saturday, October 14th.
The Blue Bears will enjoy a weekend off before facing Saint
Augustine's College during the Falcons homecoming celebration
in Raleigh, NC. The highlight of their activities (the game)
will begin at 2:00 pm.
Livingstone will celebrate its own week of Homecoming activities
during the week of October 22nd -28th. The Blue Bears will
face the Eagles of North Carolina Central University. Following
the morning parade the game will begin at 2:00 pm.
LC will conclude the regular season with a trip to Fayetteville,
NC on November 4th. The Broncos of Fayetteville State University
will play host to a 1:30 pm match-up with the Blue Bears in
Luther Jerald's Stadium.
