July 25, 2007

(TUSCALOOSA, Ala.) — The Division II Presidents Council has appointed Stillman Pres¬ident Ernest McNealey to fill one of two vacancies on the Council. He will complete a term that runs through January 2009 and will be eligible for re-election. West Texas A&M President Joseph Patrick O’Brien was named to the other vacant Council post.

“I am honored to receive this appointment to such a prestigious committee and look forward to serving in a capacity that best reflects the outstanding student-athletes and institutions at the Division II level,” McNealey said.

McNealey has been active in athletic administration over the past several years. He currently is the executive secretary for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and chair of the league’s constitution and bylaws committee. He has also attended the NCAA Convention each of the last four years.

During his 10-year tenure at Stillman, McNealey has emphasized technology, connecting all buildings with fiber-optic cable, providing computers and training for faculty and staff, and creating new laboratories for students. Athletically, he revived Stillman’s dormant football program in 1999 and helped the athletic program achieve full Division II status in 2005.
