- North Carolina A&T Sports Information Director Donal Ware has resigned to become Assistant SID and primary football contact at N.C. State University. Ware becomes the first African-American male to work in the Wolfpack's Media Relations Office and perhaps the first ever to work in a similar position at an ACC school. Ware, a Morgan State graduate, has been the Aggie's SID since October, 1999.
- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host its annual Football Media Luncheon on August 3, 2001 at the Hilton/Crystal City @ National Airport/2399 Jefferson-Davis Highway in Arlington, Virginia at 12 Noon. Pre-Interviews with coaches will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon at 12 Noon. There is an admission fee for non-media participants.

July 15, 2001 - Florida A&M women's basketball coach Debra Clark has completed her staff for the upcoming season. Clark has hired her husband, John, who assisted her at Winston-Salem State and former Texas Southern assistant Andre Williams as full-time assistants. Former Norfolk State player Lanise Rosemond has been hired as a graduate assistant.
- Virginia Union University has decided not to renew the contract of Athletics Director Jim Battle. Battle had been in the position for 16 years. There has been no official announcement but sources indicate that head basketball coach Dave Robbins will serve as interim AD. Robbins brought Battle to VUU as part of his staff when he took over the program in 1979. Battle became AD in 1985.
July 11, 2001 - Marino Casem returns to Alcorn State as Athletics Director
- Bradford "B.J." Evans has resigned as Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations at the MEAC office. He has accepted a position as Director of Media Relations for the NBA Developmental League's Asheville, NC franchise.
- For the first time in the history of the organization, there will be two members of the Board of Directors of the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) from HBCUs. Morgan State sports information director Joseph McIver and Clark Atlanta assistant SID Cecil McKay were recently elected to the board in San Diego at the business meeting during the annual CoSIDA workshop. McIver and McKay were elected as At-Large members of the Board and will serve three-year teams. Former SWAC Media Relations Director Lonza Hardy just completed a term and had been the only HBCU representative prior to the selection of McIver and McKay.

July 5, 2001 - Southern University's Michael Woods has signed a three-year contract with the Detroit Tigers. Detroit picked Woods in last month's amateur draft.
