Coppin State College announced that senior men's basketball player Greg Harnond has quit the team. Hamond, who transferred to Coppin from Boston University following his freshman year, averaged 3.3 pointsand 1.7 rebounds a game last season.
The football game between West Virginia State and Charleston Southern, scheduled for Saturday, September 18, has been canceled due to Hurricane Floyd. The game will not be made up this season. WVSC will not play again until Saturday, October 2 when they travel to West Liberty State.

The game between Elizabeth City State and Johnson C. Smith, originally scheduled for September 25 in Elizabeth City, NC has been moved to South Carolina. The ECSU Vikings and JCSU Golden Bulls will do battle in the Inagural "Big Sun Football Classic, Sept. 25 at Doug Shaw MemorialStadium in Myrtle Beach, SC. Game time is 7pm.
The location of the football game between Savannah State and Clark Atlanta, originally scheduled for September 11 in Phenix City, Alabama has been changed. The game will now be played in Savannah, Georgia at Theodore A. Wright Stadium at 5:30 p.m.
