JACKSON – Five home games, the season opener at the MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Atlanta and trips to prestigious classic games highlight Jackson State's 2019 football schedule.jackson state Football1

"I'm very excited about this football schedule and the opportunity it provides to our student-athletes and fan base," said JSU Vice President and Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson said.

The Tigers open the 2019 season facing Bethune-Cookman University at the MEAC/SWAC Challenge (Sunday, Sept. 1) in Atlanta.  The game will be broadcasted to a national audience on ESPN.

The following week JSU travels to Mobile, Alabama and will match-up with South Alabama (Saturday, Sept. &) out of the Sun Belt Conference.

JSU then travels to Memphis and will meet up with rival Tennessee State in the latest rendition of the Southern Heritage Classic (Saturday, Sept. 14).

The Tigers have a scheduled bye week before traveling to Indianapolis and meeting up with Kentucky State in the Circle City Classic (Sept. 28).

JSU then returns to Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium for its home opener versus Grambling State (Oct.5) in a non-conference game. The Blue and White stay home and welcome Alabama State (Oct. 12) for the Tigers SWAC opener and 2019 Homecoming Game.

The Tigers make the short trip to Mississippi Valley State (Oct. 19) and then to south Texas for a match-up at Prairie View A&M (Oct. 26). The Blue and White return home for a bout against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Nov. 2).

JSU travels to Alabama A&M (Nov.9) and close out the regular season with a pair of home games. The Tigers welcome Southern (Nov. 16) and Alcorn State (Nov.23) to The Vet.

The 2019 SWAC Championship is scheduled for Dec. 7.
