The Tallahassee Democrat has reported that Florida A&M Director of Athletics Derek Horne has been fired. Horne, who had been on the job for four years, told his staff on Tuesday that a letter from interim president Larry Robinson indicated that his contract would not be renewed.
“Today I am making a leadership change in athletics and hope to launch a new search soon for an athletic director,” Robinson said in a statement.
Associate athletics director Michael Smith will run the department on an interim basis until Horne’s replacement is hired.
