COLUMBIA, S.C. – Five home games and a trip to Division I Gardner-Webb University highlight the 2016 Benedict College tentative football schedule.benedict helment

The season opens on Sept. 3 against Livingstone, which returns to Columbia for the second year in a row.

The following week, the Tigers will entertain Limestone College. The Saints went 2-8 last season in their second year with a football program.

After a road trip to Central State in Wilberforce, Ohio on Sept. 17, the Tigers return home for a SIAC conference matchup with Fort Valley State.

Oct. 1 will see the Tigers travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., to take on the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb University. The Bulldogs, a member of the Division I Big South Conference, went 4-7 last season.

Benedict travels to face Lane College in Jackson, Tenn., on Oct. 8 and Clark Atlanta in Atlanta on Oct. 15. Benedict returns to Charlie W. Johnson Stadium on Oct. 22 for Homecoming Weekend hosting Morehouse College.

The final home game will be Oct. 29 against Albany State. The season wraps up on Nov. 5 at Kentucky State in Frankfort, Ky.

The schedule and times will be confirmed at a later date.
