ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University Athletics has announced Reggie Barlow as the 25th Head Football Coach in the program's history.vsu reggie barlowBarlow

Barlow comes to VSU from Montgomery, Alabama where he coached at Lanier High School. Prior to taking the job at Lanier, Barlow coached at his alma mater Alabama State University.

He was quarterbacks coach at ASU from 2005-2006 and head coach from 2007-2014.

As head coach, Barlow compiled an overall record of 48-42 and led the team to four Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Eastern Division titles and three trips to the league's championship game.

Barlow spent eight years in the NFL; five for the Jacksonville Jaguars, two for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he won a World Championship in Super Bowl XXXVII, and one season on the Oakland Raiders roster.

He takes over a program that has won 11 CIAA Championships.

VSU's 2016 season will begin September 14 on the road against Lenior-Rhyne.
