Prairie View A&M 31, Alcorn State 21

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Jalen Morton scored two touchdowns on the ground and threw for another as Prairie View A&M overcame an early 14-point deficit to beat Alcorn State 31-27 on Saturday.

Morton's 44-yard touchdown pass to Darius Floyd with 4:05 left in the third quarter gave Prairie View (6-3, 6-1) its first lead of the game at 24-21. Morton's 1-yard touchdown run capped a 13-play, 85-yard drive with 10:15 left to go.

Noah Johnson made it a one-possession game with 6:46 remaining, but Alcorn State (3-5, 3-4) punted on its next two possessions and turned it over on downs with 1:53 left.

Johnson finished with eight carries for 135 yards and three scores for the Braves, who intercepted Morton three times.

Sta'fon McCray pulled the Panthers to 14-7 with a six yard touchdown run to finish an 11-play, 52-yard drive. Quadre Butler fumbled the ensuing kickoff with 32 seconds remaining before the break and Armaury Martinez made a 32-yard field goal as time expired.

Mississippi Valley State 41, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 7

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Slade Jarman completed 17 of 23 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns and Mississippi Valley State defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 41-7 for its first win of the season on Saturday.

The win snaps a nine-game losing streak for the Delta Devils (1-8, 0-6) dating back to last season and was their first victory since a 27-24 overtime win against Alabama A&M on Nov. 7, 2015.

Austin Bray provided a duel threat at quarterback with Jarman, finishing a perfect 6 of 6 for 96 yards and three scores. Joshua Banks added seven catches for 108 yards and a score for MVSU.

Jarman and Bray each threw two first half TDs and the Delta Devils had a comfortable 27-0 lead at the half.

Brandon Duncan threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jaelen Collins for the Golden Eagles (1-8, 1-6) lone score.

Grambling State 56, Alabama A&M 17

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Devante Kincade threw four touchdown passes, Jestin Kelly ran for 200 yards and a score, and Grambling State cruised to a 56-17 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday.

Chad Williams hauled in two of Kincaid's touchdown throws, both in the third quarter, to put Grambling State (7-1, 6-0) up 42-17. Williams added a three yard touchdown run in the first half and finished with 97 yards on six catches. Kincade was 19-of-35 for 238 yards passing.

Devohn Lindsey and Dominique Leake each caught first-quarter touchdown passes to give the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead. Martez Carter had a 5-yard touchdown run and Donovan McCray recovered an AAMU fumble and returned it 57 yards for a touchdown to help seal GSU’s sixth straight win.

De'Angelo Ballard completed 16 of 45 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown for Alabama A&M (3-6, 3-5), and had a rushing TD.

Southern 26, Texas Southern 10

BATON ROUGE, La. - Lenard Tillery rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown and Southern University converted two interceptions into scoring drives to beat Texas Southern 26-10 on Saturday.

Tillery scored on a three-yard run and Herbert Edwards scored on a one yard run after Treveon Epps picked off a second-quarter pass by Averion Hurts to lift the Jaguars (7-2, 7-0) to a 14-7 halftime lead.

Danny Johnson picked off a pass by Hurts in the fourth quarter, setting up Ruan Albuquerque's first of two 28-yard field goals. Roshaud Turnerintercepted Hurts, leading to a score and 23-10 lead after Jeremias Houston recovered Tillery's fumble in the end zone.

Hurts was 13 of 24 for 168 yards passing for the Tigers (3-6, 3-4). Jarius Moore intercepted Austin Howard's first-quarter pass and returned it 73 yards for Texas Southern's only TD. Brad Woodard gained 105 yards on 11 carries.

Alabama State 14, Jackson State 7

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Alex Anderson scored on a 15-yard run with 9:01 left to play as Alabama State defeated Jackson State 14-7 on Saturday.

Anderson's score was set up when Christian Jacquemin punted the ball 30 yards with the Tigers at their own 12-yard line. Khalid Thomas returned it 12 yards, and a Jackson State penalty put Alabama State (3-6, 3-5) in scoring position.

Jackson State (3-6, 3-4) turned the ball over on downs and punted on its final two possessions.

After a scoreless first half, Jarin Morikawa threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Jairus Moll with 7:55 left in the third to give the Tigers their only lead of the game.

Jujuan Young-Battle threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Palmer Graham just more than three minutes later to tie it. Young-Battle threw for 125 yards and ran for 43.

Morikawa was 24 for 43 for 234 yards.
