Yes, I’ts that time: The highly anticipated event, CIAA Super Saturday is just around the corner.

Get ready for another fun filled day at the Spectrum Center formerly known as the Time Warner Cable Arena.  McDonalds is hosting the free event on February 25, 2017 at 8 a.m.2017 ciaatrn logo

Visitors and residents of Charlotte can expect a day full of dance competitions, CIAA cheerleading exhibitions, Battle of the Bands, giveaways and the crowning of Miss CIAA.

According to K97.5 FM, “this ‘CIAA Experience’ is one-of-a-kind, so arrive early, grab a good seat and enjoy an action-packed show that will leave you wanting more!”

The Spectrum center is expected to have 10,000 guests this year as this record was reached for the 100th anniversary in 2012.

“I enjoy taking my nephew to Super Saturday because there is so much to do. It is really a time for the city to come together and see a lot of people that you know or grew up with,” said Kemba Ali, who said she enjoys going to Super Saturday every year.

In previous years rap artist Rae Summered made a guest appearance performing their hit song “No flex zone.”

Also, the Dancing Dolls from the Lifetime show, “Bring IT!” made an appearance as well.

A good show is guaranteed each year.

“I really like to go because celebrities always show up,” said Jasmine Novel, a resident of Charlotte.

Not only is this event fun-filled and exciting, you never know who you can expect to see. This a place where families and friends can spend time together and be entertained all in one, according to CIAA Commissioner Jacqie McWilliams.

“Whether it’s creating new initiatives, furthering our commitment to engage and empower the community, or events that appeal to the various generations attracted to our tournament; we want to make sure we provide them with an experience that keeps them returning year-after-year,” McWilliams said.

Super Saturday is just one of the many events taking place during CIAA weekend that leave fans satisfied year after year.

The CIAA’s showcase events are its weeklong men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.
