Virginia Union University's Mason Simpson has been named the #1 individual golfer in the Atlantic/East Region of the NCAA, and has been selected for the NCAA Regional, to be held at The Jones Course at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV, on May 6-8.
Simpson won the individual CIAA Championship on Friday, April 19, and became the region's #1 Division II golfer on the strength of that win.
Simpson joins Fayetteville State's Jacob Barge as one of two individual CIAA golfers to be invited to the regional, as well as the team from Virginia State University, which became an automatic qualifier after winning the team championship of the CIAA Golf Tournament.
