INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Subcommittee has selected the 64 teams and 16 first- and second-round sites for the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship. Per NCAA policy, the top-16 seeds are guaranteed to host, and matchups between conference opponents were avoided in the first two rounds of the championship.NCAA Women's Tennis

First- and second-round competition takes place May 10-11 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill., where the 16 teams will compete for the national championship May 16-21. The event will be hosted by the University of Illinois.

Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Champion South Carolina State University will travel to neighboring North Carolina to take on the Lady Tar Heels of UNC-Chapel Hill who received the No.2 seed in the 64-team draw. Their first round matchup is scheduled for Friday May 10 eginning at 1 p.m.

SWAC Champion Southern University, making their 9th overall appearance in the tournament, will open against Texas A&M (21-3) on Saturday, May 11 at noon CT.  The match follows a first-round meeting between TCU and North Texas.
