INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA SoftballDivision II Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will participate in the 2013 NCAA Division II Softball Championship.  Three teams are HBCUs who received automatic qualifications as conference champions.

Four teams will participate at each of 16 regional sites in double-elimination tournaments.  

The CIAA Champion Chowan University Hawks enter the tournament as the #8 seed with a 26-21 overall record, and will take on the host team, California University of Pennsylvania at 1:00pm on May 10th in Atlantic 1 Region.  The Vulcans, the #1 seed, enter the regional with a 36-4 overall record and received an at-large bid after being the top-ranked team in the region or the last three weeks.    

The second Atlantic Regional site is in Shippensburg, PA, with the #2 seed Shippensburg taking on #7 Bloomsburg a 2:30pm after #3 seed and WVIAC titelist West Virginia State meets #6 Kutztown at noon.  

SIAC Champion Albany State University will face Gulf South Conference Champion Valdosta State University on Friday evening 7 p.m. at Blazer Park in Valdosta, GA.
One of the top hitting teams in Division II with 67 home runs for the season, Albany State will make its fifth appearance in the Division II Regionals. The Lady Rams are ranked 10th in the South Region.
Regional competition will be held May 10-12. Winners will advance to the super regionals May 17-18. The finals will be held May 23-27 at James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va., and will be hosted by the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Salem.
