PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M men's golf team has reached new heights in recent weeks. Just weeks removed from winning the 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference Men's Golf crown, the Panthers added another trophy to the mantle, winning the PGA Works Collegiate Championship at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

It wasn't easy, as the Panthers braved windy conditions at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass to overtake Howard University and fend off a late charge from SWAC foe Alabama State to claim victory.

"I put on the back of our t-shirts, 'Trust the Process,' and it's strange how things work out from time to time," Jennings said. "Yeah, it's a great feeling. … It just feels great to be with these guys and have some success. This is a good group."

Prairie View shot 18-over 306 on the Stadium on Wednesday, an effort bettered only by Alabama State (303). Florida A&M and Howard, the 36-hole leader, finished third and fourth, respectively. It came down to the back nine, where the Hornets managed a two-shot advantage. However, the Panthers' lead withstood the charge.

Jordan Stagg went 3 under on the back nine to help Prairie View A&M to the title. He finished eagle-birdie-par on his final three holes to finish tied for third individually with teammate Lorenzo Elbert Jr.

On the same day, the Panthers got more good news as they discovered their destination for the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships. Prairie View A&M will begin as the No. 14 seed in the Albuquerque regional at the Championship Course at UNM, hosted by the University of New Mexico.

Regional play will take place May 17-19, with 81 teams split among six sites. The top five teams from each region – in addition to the lowest individual scorer not on those teams – will advance to the championship round, to be played May 28-June 2 in Scottsdale, Ariz. at the Grayhawk Golf Club.
