Cairnes Named Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at Alabama State

A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Cairns joins the Lady Hornets staff after spending one season as an assistant coach at Seneca College (Toronto, Ontario) with the men's and women's teams.

This past season, the women’s team went to the national tournament where they were able to win the bronze medal, the first national medal in school history.

For the past six years, Andrew has also been the head coach at Bill Crothers High School with the men's and women’s teams. During that time, the Colts won six straight regional titles and have been to six provincial tournaments, winning the provincial title twice, the bronze medal once and the silver medal once.

Cairnes currently holds his Provincial Pre B license and his NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Level 1 and 2 goalkeeping licenses.

WSSU Rams Hire Brion Dunlap as Men's Assistant Basketball Coach

Brion Dunlap will join the Winston-Salem State University men’s basketball coaching staff after previously spending the past five seasons as an assistant coach at the College of the Holy Cross.wssu brion dunlapDunlap

He helped the Crusaders to an overall record of 34-30 the last two seasons, and in the 2013-14 season, Holy Cross finished with a 20-14 record, good for their first 20-win season since 2006-2007. Holy Cross also placed third in the Patriot League with a 12-6 mark in conference games, and received an invitation to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. Holy Cross’ 68-65 victory at Brown in the first round of the 2014 CIT was its first in a national postseason tournament since 2004-2005.

Overall, Dunlap helped the Crusaders to three finishes in the top half of the Patriot League standings in five seasons. Holy Cross placed third in the conference in both 2010-2011 and 2013-2014, and fourth in 2011-2012.

Dunlap came to Holy Cross after serving as an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary’s University for the previous seven years. During his final three seasons at Mount St. Mary’s, Dunlap helped the Mountaineers to an overall record of 54-44 and a 35-19 mark in the Northeast Conference. Mount St. Mary’s also appeared in postseason play twice during that time frame, advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2008 and the College Insider Tournament in 2009. In 2008, the Mountaineers won the Northeast Conference Tournament title and posted the first NCAA Division I Tournament victory in school history, with a 69-60 win over Coppin State in the opening round.
