“Bri brings a diverse background of experiences that supports the goals of the Conference,” said Commissioner Jacqie McWilliams.  “Her strengths compliment our team.  We are thrilled to have her as a member of the CIAA family.”

As the assistant director of communications and media relations, Funte will become the primary liaison for seven of the conference’s sixteen sports and championships.

A native of Osage, Iowa, Funte was the former public relations coordinator for the Iowa Barnstormers indoor professional football team in Des Moines. She managed all media and public relations for the franchise, developed media publications, generated game-related promotional materials and supervised game-day staff.

Funte previously served as a public relations intern for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and Buena Vista Raceway. She also spent time as an operation intern for the Omaha Lancers Hockey team.

Funte graduated from Buena Vista University in December of 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Media with a minor in Communications Studies. She received the Digital Media Student of the Year for her extensive work with the University Cable Network (UCN); maintaining and hosting a weekly radio talk show for KBVU (campus radio station) and numerous contributions to the campus newspaper [The Tack]; all of which were award-winning organizations.
