DURHAM, N.C. – First year head coach Jody Brown has announced the hiring of Emma Celentano and Jonathan Paulk as assistant coaches for the North Carolina Central University volleyball program entering the upcoming 2016-17 season on Wednesday.nccu vb asst coaches

Celentano and Paulk have worked with Brown in the past as instructors at the North Carolina Volleyball Academy based out of Durham.

“Both of them bring a real solid volleyball foundation and understanding of competition at the Division I level,” said Brown.

Celentano recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sports science – sports administration with a minor in coaching education. Prior to serving as an assistant coach for the NC Volleyball Academy, Celentano gained additional experience as an assistant coach for the NC Elite Volleyball Club for three years after playing two seasons on the squad. She was a team manager for a top-25 program with the Tar Heels while in school and has additional sports experience as a marketing and promotions intern at the Durham Bulls.

“Emma will be our first assistant,” said Brown. “She will be heading up most of the recruiting in our local area as well as working with all of our defense structures and scouting of our opponent’s defense.”

Paulk is another recent graduate from the Triangle area, graduating from North Carolina State University with Bachelor of Science degree in accounting this past May. He has accumulated a tremendous amount of volleyball experience as well at his age in addition to the NC Volleyball Academy. Paulk played for and was president of the NC State Men’s Club Volleyball Team as an underclassmen. He has served as a coach at the UNC Volleyball Camps and as head JV coach at Chapel Hill High School for one season.

“JP will be our second assistant,” said Brown. “He will be working with our outside hitters and scouting in regards to all of our videotape exchange while focusing on our offensive structure against opposing teams.”
