DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University has added four personnel to its men's and women's basketball staffs.

Head men’s basketball head coach LeVelle Moton has announced three new additions for the 2016-17 season: assistant coaches Luke D’Alessio and Reggie Sharp, and director of basketball operations Dan Tharp.

Cooperwood is leaving his alma mater to come to NCCU. He has spent the past four years on the Tennessee State University women’s basketball coaching staff and was part of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championship team that went to the NCAA Tournament in 2015.

D’Alessio comes to NCCU with 16 seasons of head coaching experience and five years as an assistant.  His last stop was as an assistant at Siena College from 2013-15.  While at Siena and Loyola University from 2010-13 he was tasked as the primary recruiter.  D’Alessio also spent a season abroad, coaching the UCC Blue Demons to a semi-final appearance in the National Cup in Ireland in 2010.nccumbb assistants

Sharp joins NCCU from Jacksonville State University after spending five seasons as an assistant coach from 2011-16.  While with the Gamecocks, Sharp worked to coordinate individual workouts for the team and ensured compliance with the university, conference and NCAA.  He also worked in the preparation of the analysis of opponents, game statistics and tactical data of opposing teams.

Tharp comes to NCCU with three years of experience as an assistant coach, last with Clarendon College during the 2015-16 season.  While at Clarendon and Baton Rouge Community College, he worked as a video coordinator and prepared scouting reports.  He also helped with recruiting, arranging travel, and monitoring academic performance of student-athletes.
