Frankfort, Ky.-Kentucky State University has announced Katrisha Waldridge as the interim head coach of the Thorobrette volleyball program on Wednesday (October 26).Waldridge
Waldridge succeeds Oscar Downs III who served as interim coach following the dismissal of then head coach Christina Coleman earlier this month.
"I'm excited to be around these student-athletes and helping them finish out their season," said Waldridge. "Both, the players and I have our sights set on going to the SIAC tournament in a few weeks to defend the conference title."
As a student-athlete in the earlier 2000s, Waldridge was a part of numerous SIAC softball championships and since graduating she has worked for KSU in several departments outside of athletics.
"I care about this institution, and I want to see every element of KSU succeed," said Waldridge. "Being a former athlete, I can connect with them and let them know I'm here to help."
Waldridge will be joined on the bench by former volleyball player Altonia Taylor and Allison Levy for the remainder of the season.
