Orangeburg, S.C.—Claflin University has announced the appointment of Ashley Jordan as women's volleyball coach.  Jordan's selection is the result of a national search to lead a competitive program in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association.claf ashley jordanJordan
 
"We are pleased to have Ashley join our staff," said Athletics Director Jerome Fitch.  "She brings a wealth of experience and is poised to continue the winning tradition of Claflin volleyball."
 
A native of Miami, Florida, Jordan joins the Claflin athletic staff after serving as head volleyball coach on several levels in the Columbia, SC area. She also served as a recruiter and head coach at the S.C. Midlands Volleyball Club.  Prior to that, she spent five seasons as the head coach of the 17U & 18U National Elite Team with the Northern Valley Power Volleyball Club in California.
 
"I am blessed to have the opportunity to take over the reins of the volleyball program here at Claflin University and I am very excited for this amazing opportunity," said Jordan.  "This is a dream job and a remarkable opportunity for me to continue to grow the volleyball program here at Claflin University, as well as assist with the continued success in the classroom and being stewards in our Panther community.
 
Jordan is a 2007 graduate of California State University, where she received her bachelor of arts in mass communication.  While at Cal State, she played both volleyball and basketball.
 
She has been awarded the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) Coach of the Year for her region.   Jordan is a member of the Palmetto Region Coaches Association, SCISA Coaches Association, and the USA Volleyball and the American Volleyball Associations.
