JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Former Lincoln All-MIAA golfer Steven Mallow has returned to LU as the next head coach of the Blue Tigers' men's golf team.lumo steven mallowMallow

"I'm extremely excited to get in there, to help our players get better, and competing," Mallow said. "I grew a lot as a person in my four years at Lincoln, I met my wife here, it was four of the greatest years of my life. I'm looking forward to helping our guys improve as golfers and preparing them to have success after they graduate."

"We are thrilled that Steven has chosen to return to his alma mater to serve as our head men's golf coach," said John Moseley, Lincoln's Director of Athletics. "During the interview process, it was clear that he is passionate about Lincoln University and the golf program. He will be a great resource for our student-athletes and will guide the Blue Tigers to success on and off of the golf course."

A stellar golfer during his four-year career with the Blue Tigers, Mallow was named to the All-MIAA team in 2012. Mallow helped Lincoln win back-to-back PGA Minority Collegiate Championships in 2012 and 2013, and finished as the runner-up at the 2011 SBU Invitational.

Mallow was selected to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District first team following a senior season in which he led LU to its sixth-ever PGA Minority Collegiate Championship title and a third-place showing at the MIAA Championship. Mallow finished in second place at the 2014 PGA Minority Collegiate Championship, tying for the lowest score through three rounds before being edged in a playoff. During that 2013-14 season, Mallow helped the Blue Tigers finish in the top-eight in all but two of their tournaments.

"My short term goal is for our team to improve in the Golf Stat rankings during the fall, and then play well enough in the spring to compete for a spot in the regional tournament," Mallow said. "Long term, I would say our goal is to win a national title at the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship and at the NCAA Division II tournament. That will always be our goal."

The Lincoln men's golf team concluded their 2016-17 campaign with a second-place result at the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship, and posted five total top-five finishes during the season.
