HUNTSVILLE— Janay Roberson has been promoted to Sports Information Director at Alabama A&M University, Director of Athletics Bryan Hicks announced.Roberson
Roberson will oversee athletics media relations, communications and social media including the department's website, aamusports.com.
Roberson spent the past two years as Assistant Sports Information Director under former SID, Bud McLaughlin. During that time, she served as the primary SID contact for volleyball, women's basketball, men's basketball, cross country, track and field, tennis and softball. Additionally, she supervised the department's student workers.
Since coming on board, Roberson has directed the department's social media initiatives, which has seen substantial growth in followers with each tool extending the reach of the Maroon and White on a regional and national level.
"Janay is a welcomed addition to our staff. She brings great experience working within our program and has done an outstanding job, Hicks said." "We expect high things from her. Her experiences at UTC and other places has prepared her for a position like this and we look forward to the work she will be doing for Alabama A&M Athletics and media relations."
Prior to coming to the Hill, Janay spent four years assisting in the Media Relations department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) as a student worker. She assisted in game day operations for football, volleyball, and men's and women's basketball. She was responsible for assisting with volleyball statistics as well as post-game interviews for Mocs Football.

"I am looking forward to building upon what has made our department and Bulldogs athletics in general successful in the past years while improving other facets of the department."
A native from Hickman, KY, Roberson graduated from UTC with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 2010 and she received a Master of Science in Athletic Administration and Coaching from Western Kentucky University in 2014. She is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
