Custom Search Elizabeth City State University has announced that Dr. Claudie Mackey, a professor at ECSU, will serve as interim athletic director effective immediately according to Chancellor Thomas Conway.
The appointment of Dr. Mackey comes after ECSU released athletic director Derrick Johnson and head basketball coach John Hill from their positions on Wednesday, April 4.
“We are grateful to Derrick and John for their service to our student-athletes and this University,” said Conway. “We are committed to the ECSU Athletics program and want to ensure its success,” he stated.
Mackey, who was recently named an ECSU Professor Emeritus, has previously served as the Viking assistant athletic director and head basketball coach.
On Monday, ECSU announced the appointment of its new head football coach Anthony Jones. Jones replaced Earnest Wilson, who was let go two weeks ago.
