The departure of former Athletics Director Dr. Charles McClelland to become SWAC Commissioner left an opening at Texas Southern that has been filled on an interim basis by Kevin Granger.txso kevin grangerGranger

Granger had served as TSU Athletics Operations Manager since in 2008.

In 2007, Granger returned for a second stint as assistant coach with the Tiger’s men basketball program under 2007-08 Interim head coach Robert Moreland.

A year later he became Operations Manager.

Before coming to Texas Southern, Granger was the head boy’s basketball coach at Worthing High School from 2001 to 2007. In his last year, he led his team to the 19-4A Regional Boy’s basketball finals. He was also named 2007 19-4A Coach of the Year.

In 2015 Granger was selected for induction into the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hall of Fame.

Granger holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Texas Southern (2000) as well as a Master's degree in Health Education (2014) and he is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction (2019 projected completion).
