“We are very pleased to bring Maurice Williams to the MEAC,” MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas said. “He has a wealth of experience in intercollegiate media relations, and we look forward to him doing an exceptional job.”

“I am very excited about the opportunity to return to the MEAC,” Williams said. “I want to thank Dr. Thomas for giving me this opportunity to return to the conference and work with a great group of academic institutions. I’m grateful for my time at Tennessee and feel my time there made me a better person and professional.”

Williams comes to the MEAC after a stint as Assistant Director of Media Relations at the University of Tennessee, where he served as the primary media contact for the school’s volleyball and softball teams, as well as secondary contact for the football program this past season.

Prior to Tennessee, Williams spent 10 years as the Director of Sports Information at Hampton University.

Williams currently holds memberships in the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Black College Sports Information Directors Association (BCSIDA). At CoSIDA, Williams has served on the Committee-on-Committees Committee, the Scholarships Committee, and the Academic All-Americans Committee.

He was featured in the Feb. 2011 issue of CoSIDA Digest and was also the 2012 recipient of the CoSIDA Rising Star Award.
