RALEIGH, N.C. – Randy McClure has been named the head men’s and women’s soccer coach at Shaw University, Director of Athletics, Dr. Alfonza L. Carter announced Friday. McClure takes over the reins for both programs on the heels of the Bears and Lady Bear’s season opener for the 2019 slates.McClure
McClure has extensive coaching resume and a plethora of experience as a coach in all facets; he has more than 20 years at the high school and youth level, including his most recent stints as an assistant coach at Catawba, an NCAA Division II program in Salisbury, NC from 2018-2019 and as an assistant coach at Pfeiffer from 2015-16.
Prior to Catawba, McClure served as the Director of Coaching and Player Development. Previously, McClure served on the Olympic Development Program staff in Minnesota.
“I want to thank Dr. Carter and the rest of the staff at Shaw University for this opportunity,” McClure said. “I look forward to working with the rest of the Shaw community in building a championship-level soccer program.”
In 2009, McClure was named the Lee County Athletic Conference Coach of the Year while South Fort Myers High School (FL) when he led the Wolfpack to its first conference title. He has also led several successful club teams in Florida. McClure currently coaches the ‘03 Boys at Lake Norman Soccer Club where he also offers support for the club's sports performance program and its academy program.
McClure holds the highest credential from the United States Soccer Federation, United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA), and United States Youth Soccer.
