The Alabama State University women’s cross country team won its fifth-straight SWAC title

Grambling was led by freshman Hassan Chepkwony, who finished first with a time of 25:56.81. Chepkwony was also honored as 2015 Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year.

Along with Chepkwony, Prairie View A&M's Aaron Austin, Mississippi Valley State's Aaron Albert, Grambling State's Montieco Harris and Jackson State's James Curtis finished second through fifth to earn first-team All-SWAC honors.

Grambling State Head Coach Bertram Lovell was named SWAC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Alabama State Head Coach Ritchie Beene was named SWAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.

The Hornets were led by Paige Rankine, who earned the top spot with a time of 18:09.85. Alabama State scored 15 points and saw eight Hornet runners finish in the top 10.

Rankine's efforts earned her the 2015 SWAC Women's Runner of the Year honor.

Along with Rankine, Alabama State's Artrailia LeSane, Shantia Wilson, Tatiana Etienne and Santina Williams finished second through fifth to earn first-team All-SWAC honors.

In the women's team competition, Prairie View A&M placed second with a score of 85, and Texas Southern finished third with 119 points.

In the men's team competition, Texas Southern placed second with a score of 66, and Alabama State came in third with 83 points.
